MAKING A DENT

Date: 08/08/2007 08:58

Today was a very productive day. Dotty swamped out the bathroom, Dennis
helped her take out a big shelf, so that she and Daphne could put a
smaller cabinet in there. Dotty hung a new curtain and Dennis and Dotty
got the window open for ventilation. It looks SO MUCH better and there
is room to move!

Taffy did LOTS of organizing with yard sale stuff from the kitchen and
the areas we were cleaning. She was SO HELPFUL in organizing all of
those video tapes and getting rid of the duplicates!

Sean and Dennis worked their tails off, took the third load to the
dump, Dennis brought us back pizza and pop for lunch, and Sean and
Dennis (with Sean's 15% discount) bought a new runner for the bedroom.

Daphne's job was to continue swamping out the bedroom, reduce the
clothes down to a manageable number, clean out the closet (there are
more hidden boxes there), and get help from several people in getting
it cleaned out under the bed.

Dennis, with Sean's help, reorganized bedroom furniture, so that there
are no more 'aisles' in the bedroom, but actual walking space.

Dotty got some laundry done, we cleared out more plants that Mom cannot
take care of, reorganized the kitchen and laundry room (again) and got
things done in the nick of time when Dad pulled up in front of the
house with Mom. Sean held down the fort, Dennis and Daphne drove away
with the fourth load to the dump.

We have made a DENT. Daphne and Dennis will spend a few hours working
with Sean on Wednesday, then Daphne has a pm appt. We'll go back
Thursday, but Daphne has a PT appt. in the pm that day also.

The report from Sean is that Dad seemed pleased, Mom is out of it with
the pain meds, and Steffan is concerned about getting his shopping
done. So, the plan tomorrow is that Steffan will give his shopping list
to Sean. Sean and Dennis will go to Fred Meyers to get some bathroom
rugs, and use Sean's discount to get Steffan's supplies. That way Dad
won't have to leave Mom.

Thank you to everyone for your help today. This is emotionally
draining, but we are getting a safer place for Dad and Mom to live.

After I visit with Dad and Mom tomorrow, I'll have a better idea of
Mom's actual health and needs.

Love,
Daphne
